Vicious Licking

While walking Church Street in Burlington, Vermont this weekend, I noticed this little three-month old pit bull playing with his twin [human] sisters. He was still so puppy-soft, and he was so excited to see everyone and everything in his path!

WARNING: this is how this “vicious” breed greets a stranger!

One of the best organizations I’ve seen in support of this historic breed is Love is the Pits.

And for a great Sports Illustrated slideshow on what Michael Vick’s dogs are up to now, definitely check out The Healing Touch!

Thanks for the licks, Kilgore!

Becky (rksquared) - This should be part of a PSA for Pits. What a cutie!

Nicole - yay pitbulls! and as always, gorgeous images. These ones look especially great on the brown blog background.

jess - i’m reading (on audiobook) one of Cesar Millan’s books right now. it’s nice to see him as a celeb working against the bully breed prejudice and explaining how dogs are animals first, dogs second, and breeds last. and if you can fulfill all the needs in that order, it is very possible to keep the negative breed qualities from popping up.

april - Adorable! It’s terrible that pits get such a bad rap. I’ve met so many sweet pups at the shelter that get passed over just b/c of that. Makes me sad.
