In April of this year, Gary and I took part in one of the most moving events of our lifetime when we traveled to Connecticut to meet the P.E.T.S. LLC animal rescue transport.
Just days before, we received the call that a chocolate lab mix was on his way up from Tennessee to join our family. It turns out, P.E.T.S. LLC transports 50-100 dogs up to New England almost every single Saturday, whether to enter into new homes or loving foster families. Kyle and Pam Peterson have helped rescue over 15,000 animals over the last few years, just because they feel it is the right thing to do.
I photographed the event. One-by-one, the dogs stepped down into open arms. They were rambunctious, nervous, giddy, stressed, inquisitive and tired.
I loved every one of those dogs, and every single person who was there waiting with us in the parking lot at 8am. For more photos click to my Flickr collection.
