Rescue Overload

When I arrived at the Animal Rescue League of Brewster this past Friday, I was greeted by a full house of gorgeous dogs!

Unfortunately Blue and Sasha are back. These were two of the sweetest pups I’ve met there, so if you have it in your heart to help them through a little extra training, please consider stopping in to meet them!

The first little sweetie to come join me in the paddock was Kenzi. She’s a 1 1/2-year old Beagle mix, described as a “busy girl, very lovable and outgoing, and always wanting to please.” She is easy to train. She may not be very tolerant of small children, but loves bigger kids and other dogs.

Next out was Murphy, a 3-year old Cocker Spaniel/Poodle mix. He’s listed as a “special adoption” because he has exhibited some nervous territorial behavior in protecting his yard. He needs an attentive owner who will give him exercise, training and discipline. But just look at those eyebrows!

This is Joshua, a 1 1/2-year old Chihuahua. I can’t even bother listing some of his “issues” here because if he had ANY exercise he would have made an incredible pet. Seriously… I just got all steamed up while reading through his surrender forms.

And this is Ralph, a 3 1/2-year old Shih Tzu. Not much is known about this little guy, but he has been very calm, quirky and non-reactive at the shelter. He even had his television debut on a recent feature for the Animal Rescue League!

There’s one more thing that I don’t usually do, and that is to show you some of the dogs still awaiting evaluations. Since the shelter was full, and all the handsome pups were out in the sunshine, I thought I’d give you a sneak peek at who you’ll find if you visit toward the second half of this week:

Joni Solis - WOW, these are wonderful photos you managed to get! I know how hard it can be to photography excited shelter dogs or any dog for that matter.

I also have to tell you that I LOVE your logo design — perfect and so creative. Did you come up with it yourself or did you hire someone to create for you?

Thank you for taking the time to photograph these dogs. Great photos really do help get more dogs adopted. People have told my rescue group that it was the photo that made them decide to adopted the dog.

coldnose - Thank you for the nice comments! Joni, I’m so happy you love my logo! It’s 95% my own creation, and I recently sat down with a fabric-designer friend to tweak it to where it is now. I love it too, if I may say so :-)

Amy - Awww… another sweet batch of pups in need of homes. I hope they all get their forever families. Poor little Joshua – as a Chi mom I know they can have their quirks – I hope he’s not too scarred from his past.
