Finbar + Angus on The Knob

This past week, I met a wonderful pair of yellow labs out on The Knob in Falmouth, Finbar and Angus!

When we began our walk, Meghan and Sheri asked “So, how do you want us to do this?” I only mention it here, because it’s a question everyone is thinking and asking. The truth is, I’m just here to walk and play with you. I never aim to pose your dogs, or place them on some cheesy prop. My goal is to capture the same personality that you’re in love with every day, and the best way to do that is to just get out there and have fun in their favorite places!

The Knob is beautiful, but the most special thing about it is that it’s open to dogs all year round! Most of Cape Cod’s beaches regulate that dogs keep out from May 15th to September 15th each year.

I can’t even imagine Finbar’s depression if he wasn’t able to swim laps in the ocean… (and I do mean laps!)

Angus was more the exploration type.

A nice family photo for holiday cards perhaps? You guys look like you’ve done this before…

Brotherly love. It’s almost time for us to start thinking about adding another pup to our family as well. I love the rough-housing, and the way they share their great finds (sticks, dead fish smells, all the good stuff) along the path of life.

Finbar, Angus, Meghan and Sheri – thanks for a wonderful Sunday evening walk on the beach! I hope you enjoy the photos of your boys!

ARL Boston’s Paws for Celebration

I’m incredibly happy to be a co-chair on the committee planning this year’s Paws for Celebration event for the Animal Rescue League of Boston’s Cape Cod branch! The event took a break for the last few years, but we’re bringing it back and having SUCH a blast doing so!

Local friends, please join us on Sunday, June 12th, from 12 to 4pm at Drummer Boy Park in Brewster, MA!

We have some amazing activities planned – a group walk along the beach, demonstrations, games, contests, crafts for kids – AND we have emcee talent from Dan & Stephanie from the WCOD morning show and Chris Lambton from ABC’s The Bachelorette!! The long list of raffle prizes is also damn incredible – thanks to all the local businesses who are participating (including a full session from Cold Nose Photo!)! It will be so great to see this all come together on a beautiful June day – I hope to see you too!

We’re kicking off the festivities tomorrow night with a Yappy Hour event from 6 to 8pm at Laurino’s restaurant in Brewster. Please join us with your dog, and check out the specialty dog-themed drink menu on the outdoor patio!

Click the logo above to register for the walk event, and enter “Cold Nose Photo” as your team (virtual or in person) to support our walk!

Sponsors include Agway of Cape Cod, the Cape Cod Dog, Nauset Pet Services, WCOD, The Cape Codder, Brewster Bookstore and more listed on the site!

Lucy on Brewster Flats

On Sunday evening, I met up with Amanda and Lucy for a walk on the Brewster Flats. We didn’t really plan for it to be the perfect low-tide time of day – pretty silly of us not to – but we lucked out!

Lucy isn’t exactly known for her love of the camera, so my own Brewer came out to join us (ie. distract her). They bounded across the flats having a grand ol’ time! Can you imagine how great sand must feel under a dog’s feet?

Tis the season for oysters!

Lucy has been battling cancer for the last year, and I must say she’s doing a damn good job at it. Thanks so much for the great walk and chat, ladies – Brew and I wish you the very best on your adventure to Oregon!

Carol - What a beautiful girl Lucy is, absolutely loving life. So sad to read she has cancer, but she looks like she’s not ready yet, too many oysters and beaches and fun things yet to explore. Beautiful photographs.

amanda - I lost Lucy just 2 weeks after these photos were taken. This was to be her last walk at Brewster flats, and the last photos taken of her. Lucy died peacefully at home in my arms, staring at me May 31st. You were the only photographer who ever managed to get pictures of my best friend, and I am so grateful to you for your continued efforts to do so. Thank you, thank you and thank you again.

Brewer on Film

Welcome to the weekend!

Things have been slow here around the Cold Nose Photo blog lately, but I have excuses!  One is the fact that the website was hacked, and still not entirely put back together again. The other excuse is that I’ve been shooting film for the last couple of months and FINALLY packaged up a handful of rolls to send to the lab. Not quite as instant as digital, but I’ve been looooving the change of pace!

More sessions are on the way! The grasses are turning green, flowers blooming, and frankly, my wonderful clients are more willing to play in the warmer weather. Can’t wait to meet a whole new season full of lovable mutts!
