Editorial Canine

I was out on an editorial assignment today – this gorgeous first day of spring! Artist Jennifer Morgan lives in an eco-conscious home she built herself, and she paints in her fresh-air studio alongside Friday, a blue heeler rescue dog.

I love meeting incredible new people in this way, and I truly feel that every editorial assignment I get matches my personality to a tee. So fun!

I wish more of my clients would get in the photos with their dogs. It doesn’t mean you have to sit there smiling at me, but the photos are able to show the beautiful relationship between human and dog. Jennifer’s smile is definitely that of a dog lover!

You’ll find many more photos, and learn about Jennifer and her home in the upcoming “cottage issue” of Cape Cod Home magazine!

Arizona Jada

I traveled to Arizona at the start of February, to visit my best friend and shoot a wedding! I was particularly excited to finally meet the adopted Jada, this little bundle who has been snuggling her way into the family for a year now.

A few glimpses from the times she wasn’t crawling into my lap…

Arizona dogs have an entirely different playground…

Jada’s back yard is spacious, fenced in, and full of children to play with. She looks pretty darn happy if you ask me!

I hope Jada remembers me on my next visit to Arizona! Slobber slobber, kiss kiss…

Heather McMinn - Hi! Love this so much. The girls were trying to get Jada to look at the computer to see herself. Thanks for taking such good pics of our bunch! XXOO

Braving the Cold

Brewer took me for a walk this morning. It’s freezing and snowy and icy around these parts, but you can always count on a dog to get you out there in the fresh air and sunshine!

Okay, so I might have cheated a bit by going to a nearby peninsula of a beach and tossing the Chuck-It as far and as often as I could, but a tired pup makes for a much more efficient work day at home!

The foreground of this photo is actually the ice-covered sand, but it kind of looks like all ocean! (like an infinity pool… in a soothing resort… in a warm tropical country…. er, FOCUS!)

I always love beach grasses more this time of year…

Thanks for the walk, buddy! My mornings wouldn’t be the same without you.

Surprising a Friend

I recently dog-sat for a friend for, oh… maybe five hours. It was supposed to be five hours of pouring rain, but the skies were instead a gorgeous moody blue color. I decided to grab Shiloh for a little ride out to Dowses Beach in Osterville, MA. I wasn’t really sure what I was planning for the photos, but I knew it would be fun to sneak them in for Jess! It ended up being the perfect gift to hang onto for her January birthday!

Shiloh is one of the prettiest girls I’ve ever met, with her intricate mascara-like details through her fur.

We had quite the silly conversation out there in the dunes, she and I.

As much as I love to have dog photos displayed on the wall (of course), I also really prefer them to be somewhat funky or artsy… not just a straight shot. Something about this photo made it my top choice for blowing up large for Jess.

Shiloh is such a lady… standing proper and looking off to the distance. She’s playful when she wants to be, but always a lady.

Hope you’re having a great Birthday Month, Jess, and scratches to Shiloh!

Rigley in Christmas Lights

Now that all the cards are out, I wanted to share this glimpse of the inside of my parents’ Christmas card! We had so much fun playing with Rigley in the old lights we’ve had through generations of family and trees. I hope this sparked a little giggle from each person who opened it!
