Dogs of Scorton Creek

Down the road from the home I grew up in, on historic Route 6, is Scorton Creek. Scorton Creek is one of the most gorgeous spots you’ll find out here if you take some time to drive around the peaceful areas. The creek extends through Great Marsh, and flushes out into Cape Cod Bay. The bay-side of Cape Cod has an average 10-foot tide, so you want to pick your times wisely if you’re planning to do any bridge-jumping or kayaking in the creek!

I’ve always pulled up and gone toward the water, usually for a kayak paddle. Just in the past year or so I’ve discovered that you can walk into the woods and find endless acres of a bird sanctuary and dog-friendly walking trails!

Lucky for me, my visit to the creek helped contribute to my Dogs of Cape Cod photo project – I met Jasmine, Brandy and Ben! Jasmine is a trained search and rescue dog with Search Dogs Northeast, and rumor has it that Brandy is a natural-born kayak chaser. Ben’s just a certified dog-on-the-beach poser.
